Welcome to issue #18 of Indiscrete Musings
I write about the world of Cloud Computing and Venture Capital and will most likely fall off the path from time to time. You can expect a bi-weekly to monthly update on specific sectors with Cloud Computing or uncuffed thoughts on the somewhat opaque world that is Venture Capital. I’ll be mostly wrong and sometimes right. Views my own.

Today, I’m excited to announce my investment in the Series A of Prompt Security. Following up on the AI Security Research we conducted earlier this year, Prompt not only secures AI but also enables enterprises to use AI. While the category is still nascent, and there is plenty of speculation centered around the viability of all of the providers, it’s clear to us. In the case of Prompt, this still is very much in the “buy” category for CISOs, and now, relative to last year, even earlier this year, the use cases internally are starting to manifest for LLMs and AI generally, hence the need for a security solution.
When I first met Itamar Golan, the CEO of Prompt, it was clear that there was an instant “Founder-Market-Fit.” Itamar had previously led ML teams at security companies and understood the nuance within models themselves, which made him appropriately prepared to build a platform to protect against said models.
We also felt the same affinity when we met Lior Drihem, the Co-founder and CTO who was at Check Point for 18 years. Throughout our diligence, we discovered that Lior had created one of the first browser-based security solutions more than two decades ago! Coupled, our picture of the team couldn’t be better — you have two individuals who understand LLMs and Models innately, security, and somehow, seem always to be a step ahead when it comes to developing new products in emerging (and later shown, enduring) categories.
Outside of the impressive growth, the amount of actual enterprise use cases Prompt is serving made it a no-brainer. Today, Prompt helps enterprises enable their GenAI usage by protecting applications (internal/external), the way employees interact with AI tools, and developers with respect to how they code with AI tools — giving CISOs a comprehensive platform to help them understand what is going on with their AI usage coupled by enabling AI teams to strive for improved efficiency and productivity vis-a-vie LLMs.
We know that the space and category are new, and what gives us confidence in partnering with Prompt Security is their relentless focus on building products, finding the customer needs, and simply the velocity with which they do this. There is a common quip going around in investor and founder circles alike, “is there anything that is really differentiated and real MOATs in AI?” Barring the GPU providers and Foundational Models themselves, it’s a complicated answer, yet in the case of Prompt, it’s their velocity centered around everything the company does that gives us the most confidence, and perhaps that, within of itself in the world of AI is the best MOAT one can ask for.
We’re excited and honored to be involved in the Series A financing led by Jump Capital, along with the broader syndicate of Okta Ventures, Hetz Ventures, and F5.
